Demonstrator – Ian Buxton, National Demonstrator, Long Eaton
It was a delight to welcome Ian Buxton to our club for our Golden Anniversary Celebration Demonstration. Ian had kindly agreed to do the demonstration with only 2 weeks’ notice and, in spite of this, he produced an array of inspired floral masterpieces, and at the same time kept the audience entertained with his sparkling humour.
This meeting was the first meeting the club had been able to hold for 18 months due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, and this ‘floral fix’ was just what we all needed following the doom and gloom associated with the pandemic.
It was wonderful to see such a good attendance. Thank you to all who supported the club.
Let’s look forward to sharing in many more evenings of flowers and friendship.
Ian’s finale arrangement in shades of soft peach and white enhanced with the golden coloured Choisya ternata ‘Sundance’.
Marcella demonstrated a long and low arrangement suitable for a table or special occasion. The design used short foliage and flowers for texture and colour inserted close the floral foam, keeping the design nice and compact.
Thank you to Ian for braving the torrential rain and flooded roads to reach us in Dinnington. The floral displays were wonderful and Ian managed to entertain the audience with his wicked sense of humour. Thanks also to all our members and friends who did not let us down and braved the inclement weather to come to see the demonstration.
On the 8 August members from Dinnington Floral Art Society and Rotherham Flower Club joined together and travelled to London by coach to visit the NAFAS Diamond Anniversary Floral Art and Design Show at Islington Exhibition Centre.
On our journey down to London we stopped off for an afternoon in Windsor, making the most of the beautiful weather. The highlight of our holiday was, of course, the visit to the show on Friday. The show was spectacular and here are a few of the many hundreds of wonderful designs that we were privileged to see.
The members of the DFAS Committee are pleased to announce that the Fashion Show held on 27 September 2018 raised a total of £500, which will be split equally between the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Bloodwise.
Thanks go to Karen and her team from London Connection, Parkgate who worked very hard and put on such a good show for us, our lovely ‘models’ who looked stunning in their outfits, all those ladies who were kind enough to bake cakes or bring raffle prizes, Jim and James for their help at the Resource Centre and to everyone who bought tickets to support our event and made this possible.
